THE WHO: Townshend Says He Hates Touring Pete Townshend admits that hes having second thoughts about The Whos 50th anniversary tour. Townshend was asked by the U.K.s Event magazine why the band is going out on the road again, and he laughed and said, Im sort of asking myself the same question. It seemed like a good idea about six months ago, but I hate performing and The Who and touring. He then explained, But Im innately good at it, I dont find it hard. I feel empowered on stage -- not possessed, as has been suggested. We tour because we can. I’m still very fit. I wouldn’t be complaining at my age if I had Alzheimers. My dad died when he was 69. I feel very lucky to be alive and well. The Who get things going next month with a one-off in Abu Dhabi before a run around the U.K. They kick off their North American leg on April 15th in Tampa, Florida.-pyke
