THE sixties : What did we get that I like : 1) The 64 Civil a Rights Act . 2) Medicare . 3). End to overt segregation 4 ). The Beatles and the Stones , and 5 ) a some what looser concept of what constitutes appropriate business attire ( at least in some places) . Of course there are those who feel all this stuff was wrong and make various arguments from the religious to the libertarian. There was the fabulous WSGN in Birmingham Ala that stopped playing the Beatles . Jerks . It tried to be cool and the fate of the Chicago Seven after they became irrelevant was an ending . Jerry Rubin was a stockbroker when he got killed crossing the street . And Alta Mont nailed shut the Summers of love . For that matter , in spite of some great music, Woodstock was all about promoters and money . This era is when social rebellion became a commodity . One could get construction boots, a Che t-shirt, and ragged jeans and you were a dangerous rebel . Of course the Young Americans for Freedom in their button down shirts and khakis were also a cliche . maybe everything ultimately becomes a cliche . And everything becomes a market demographic .
