The most eligible candidate must be in possession of a B. Comm. Degree or equivalent (NQF Level 6) with five (5) years relevant financial management experience within local government in a senior capacity. Must be computer literate (MS Word / Excel / DB4). The most eligible candidate should also demonstrate proven visionary and strategic thinking skills and decision-making ability. A valid Code EB driver’s license. Effective communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages in the Western Cape, namely English, Afrikaans and Xhosa. The most eligible candidate must comply with the Municipal Regulations on Minimum Competency Levels or clearly indicate progress in this regard. Responsibilities would involve the following: manage and control expenditure, salaries, creditors, purchase, stores (supply chain management) sections *provide advisory and support services to the various departments * manage the budget, financial statements and audit with regards to creditors, payroll, loans, investments and SCM * compile financial reports and statements with supporting documents for Audit file * manage and direct the annual stocktaking * develop policies and procedures to enhance the implementation of purchases and procurement * ensure that council adhere to the MFMA and relevant regulations * other duties as requested from time to time.
