THEOPNEUSTOS GOD BREATHED SATURDAY, MARCH 08TH 2014 TITLE: PRAY FOR YOURSELF MESSAGE BY PASTOR FAVOUR Luke 21:36 “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” Why must I pray for myself? There are so many reasons why you must pray. Great men in the time of old from the scriptures we read did pray. Abraham prayed, he had it as a daily habit to go up to a mountain to pray. No wonder he was able to hear and recognize the voice of God when God asked him to go offer Isaac to him. Only a man who has a deep relationship with God will obey such a command or grant such a request. Any other person could have concluded that it was a demon speaking. Because it doesn’t make sense to say that a God that makes alive can demand a human being as a sacrifice. When we pray it solidifies our friendship with God. It shows our love and total reliance on him. It also keeps us alert. Most of the time prayer in the bible has been associated with watchfulness. Watch and pray Mathew 26:41. A praying Christian is a Christian that will always be aware, he cannot be taken unawares. As he prays based on the things he can see with his physical eyes God will also be showing him the things the physical eyes cannot see. He may tell you in the place of prayer if you are attentive or he could reveal things to you through other means, like a vision or dream. God himself mentioned that he cannot do anything without informing Abraham. He wanted to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, he consulted with Abraham knowing that Abraham also had relatives in there. That is one benefit of praying. God treats men who pray as friends, he hides nothing from them. If you pray you cant fall into temptations rather you will see the temptation coming and the strength to overcome it will always be present within you. Prayer strengthens your spirit and it is the strength of the spirit that determines the stamina of the flesh. The spiritual will always control the physical. Luke 21:36 says Watch.....Jesus was just coming from the place of prayer when he was faced with the Devil’s temptation, no wonder he overcame those temptations. Living a prayerful life keeps you ready for the coming of Jesus. It helps you overcome the snare of the devil. You really want to stay out of sin, be prayerful. PRAYER AND DECLARATION I WILL ALWAYS PRAY. I WILL NOT ONLY PRAY WHEN I NEED TO GET SOMETHING FROM GOD, I WILL PRAY BECAUSE I LOVE GOD. I WILL PRAY BECAUSE I TRUST GOD.
