THERE ARE STILL TALENTS FOR CHRIST Acts 6:1 - 15 OVERVIEW The idea of the old brigades both in the religious and the political arena, holding tight to power has been disastrous. The increase of membership, welfare demands and agitations left the twelve Apostles with no other choice than to allow lieutenants. Endorsing democracy, the Christians without selfish interest voted for the best (7) seven candidates Vs 5. The new welfare lieutenants got the spiritual blessings to function Vs 6, while the Apostles settled for good sermons, teachings and evangelism. What a lesson for all also like that of Moses and Jethro Ex. 18:13 - 22. Division of labor produces specialization of labour and quality products which most leaders believe but refuse for selfish reasons. The families, church and the society breeds tyrants who have vowed to hold on to power despite various crises and low outputs. Letting go some functions to capable/qualified hands, has elongated lives, increased participation, development and sound teachings. The freedom to appoint or be appointed is not freedom to kill, politicize, tribalize or even to mortgage the powers of the elected. Those not yet in authority, should keep up their good works and faith in Christ for your works will cause emancipation of God’s people. TONIC POINT (1) Nothing should compromise sound teachings and prayers Vs 1 & 2. (2) It’s good for other to also have a say in administration Vs 3 - 7. (3) Give opportunities and see talents emerging Vs 8 - 11. (4) Blessings of elders helps expansion Vs 12 - 15. FOCUS OF THE DAY Prompt attention to agitations averts uncontrollable crises. PRAYER POINT Pray God to direct our leaders and followers from power drunk. HELP: Exodus 18:13 - 27 & Zechariah 2:1 - 15.
