THEREFORE, THE KINGDOM OF GOD WILL BE TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU AND GIVEN TO A PEOPLE THAT WILL PRODUCE ITS FRUIT. (Mt 21:33-46) Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower. Then He leased it to tenants and went on a journey. when vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce. But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat, another they killed, and a third they stoned. Again he sent other servants, more numerous than the first ones, but they treated them in the same way. Finally, he sent his son to them, thinking, They will respect my son. But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and acquire his inheritance. They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes? They answered him, He will put those wretched men to a wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants who will give him the produce at the proper times. Jesus said to them, Did you never read in the scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes? Therefore, I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit. The one who alls on this stone will be dashed to pieces; and it will crush anyone on whom it falls. When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parable, they knew that he was speaking about them. And although they were attempting to arrest him, they feared the crowds, for they regarded him as a prophet. For us to receive more graces, Jesus reminds us to practice generosity and not jealousy. Are you aware that you are just Gods tenant or owner? Opportunist is the word to those who take advantage of anothers kindness and goodness. When we are entrusted of something, we should always bear in mind that we are not the owner of it. Just as in our relationship with one another. God has entrusted to us our family, friends and relatives but not to own them nor to control and abuse them. But to love them, teach them and understand them. often than not, our attitude towards others depends on the good we get from them and the opportunities we can make out of using them but when they seem to no longer fulfill our expectations then we tend to find fault in them. Worse if we consider them useless and good for nothing. We are all tenants and not owners of our life and in the same way we dont own others lives. This season of Lent reminds us that this life of ours in not our to control but it is only lent to us. God has given this life to use and and make good use of it rather than use others for our own good. But if we dont bear fruits of good works and virtues, then God will take it from us and give it to those who can be entrusted and who can yield good fruits out of this life. We always think that everything we have comes from our hard earned work and whoever comes to ask their share, we turn them down and say hurtful and shameful words to them. We dont realize that everything comes from God and if God decide to take it, we have nothing to do but follow. That is why in the hardness of our hearts, it is a a blessing that we get sick for still have the chance to look back and reflect for not everyone has the chance to repent and renew before they go. Anything we do, good or bad, comes back to us, God has given us all that we need and it is overflowing to those who are generously share but for those who keep on accumulating it, hoard it, do not share it and worse forcefully acquire those that belongs to others. For us to be truly bless is to be truly blessed to is to be thankful and generous. And so let us always remember that we own nothing in this world but sin. And so let us strive to do good than to commit sin again and again. Let us always be aware this life is only lent and we should use it well so that we may produce only good fruits. God is the Landowner of this vineyard, we are the tenants, His servants are the prophets and those who preach His word and Jesus is His only Son, whom we crucify and died on the cross, yet we still never learn and continue to nail Him with our sins.
