THERE’S DUMPING AND THEN THERE’S DUMPING This Week’s - TopicsExpress

THERE’S DUMPING AND THEN THERE’S DUMPING This Week’s Topic Pilcher Park, in some respects, has become a dumping ground due to a lack of security, Egizo said. (source - Joliet Herald News, “Park District Will Have Referendum on Ballot”, Monday, August 11, 2014) We completely agree with Mr Egizio. And, we have a few more things to say about this topic…..and how it relates to money….management and the need for a Referendum. This problem has several moving parts. Let’s begin….. PART I — FIRST PROBLEM — The Bad Behavior of those of us who are Patrons of the Park. — This is the garden variety of Trash that people just drop wherever. You can see the attached images of the disgusting litter that can be found throughout the Park. It is particularly abundant at the Pull Over/Parking Spots. Each one is trash littered. Really?! People?! WE can do BETTER than this. SOLUTION — If we brought it in, we CAN TAKE IT OUT! SECOND PROBLEM — The Bad Behavior of those who INTEND TO DUMP! — This is the stuff that is BROUGHT in TO BE DUMPED. (More on this one in the next Post) We all know that (as Director Egizio has alluded) Pilcher Park has come to be known as the place for people to Dump things — everything from TV sets (a LOT of them), to bodies (fortunately fewer). (See attached images — TV Set — a Couch?…. and in January, a CAR -- to the base of the Dam!?) SOLUTION — Surveillance Cameras at each of the Entrances to the Park. It introduces a conscience to the situation. We mean — if you knew there were cameras watching, would you bring in a large object to DUMP? Lowers the likelihood dramatically! And also the cost of Trash Removal — dramatically! BUT, did you know how much it cost the Joliet Park District to have that Car pulled out of the drink?……….wait for it………...$4,000!! That’s what happens when the management style is Crisis-Management’. THIRD PROBLEM — There is NO cure for this one…….Look at the last image uploaded……Look CLOSELY -- That’s right! Someone really left in a hurry! Not just their trash — but their PANTS on the fence!? Whatever your problem, STOP DUMPING IN OUR PILCHER PARK! It’s BAD for the Neighborhood! And, JPD — install the Surveillance Cameras — Four entrances to the Park — Please! They would pay for themselves! More on this later. As always, please Like, Comment (or ask a question) and/or Share
