THEY PIERCED MY HANDS AND MY FEET… King David wrote down - TopicsExpress

THEY PIERCED MY HANDS AND MY FEET… King David wrote down these words about 400 years before crucifixion was even invented and almost 1,000 years before Jesus was crucified. For those first 400 years, those who read Davids words in Psalm 22 wondered WHY anyone would pierce someones hands and feet. Of course, that would be painful and unpleasant, but… ??? It wasnt until people saw the bloody CROSS and how it was viciously used that they FINALLY realized why and how having your hands and feet pierced could be FATAL. Then their question — for the next 600 years — became just whom David meant by MY. David was certainly not crucified. I believe Psalm 22 to be the most amazing prophecy in the Bible, and it begins with the words My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Of course, we now realize that Jesus would say these same words from the cross (Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34), and many sermons have been given as to why He asked that question. Here is yet another reason. In Luke 4:16-29, Jesus was rejected in His hometown of Nazareth when He read the words of Isaiah 61:1-2a in the synagogue and then said, Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4:21) I believe that He was saying the same thing to those watching His crucifixion that Friday when He said, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? You see, those in the crowd on Golgotha that day who were familiar with Psalm 22 would instantly recognize those words. It was as if Jesus were saying, Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing and your sight. Pay close attention to all that is happening now so you can finally understand what David wrote. Every detail prophesied in Psalm 22 — even down to They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots. (Psalm 22:18, Matthew 27:35, Mark 15:24, Luke 23:34, and John 19:24) — happened right there and right then before their very eyes! Psalm 22 is no less than AN EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT BY JESUS FROM THE CROSS, 1,000 years before the event. King David simply wrote those words down, and even he probably had no idea what they meant at the time. As the Lord said in Isaiah 46:10 NLT ~ Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish. We serve an AMAZING God!!! © Jimmie Douglas [Please feel free to share, and TAKE A MOMENT TO READ PSALM 22.]
