THICK N THIN BLACK LINES I was so fortunate to call Bill Green - TopicsExpress

THICK N THIN BLACK LINES I was so fortunate to call Bill Green my friend. Bill started out wanting to be an architect, and during his lifetime became one of the finest caricature artists Australia has produced. His use of the thick and thin black line to bring a story to life was extraordinary… incredible to witness the way he interpreted a face or a set of circumstances in the story. My books took on a new energy when illustrated by Bill. He was a massive element in any success those books achieved - How to Hypnotise Chooks, How to Tame Lions, How to Kiss a Crocodile, and How to Puzzle a Python - to name a few. Words do not appear sufficient to quantify my thanks. Bill was a great man. So I always jump at the opportunity to sit still while the very good caricature artists, or even my children when they were young… attempt to sketch my exaggerated likeness. Like recently… at Sea World where I sat for a while. Award winning cartoonist Steve Panozzo was sketching faces of delegates at the FBAA conference. Wonderful take home of the event. This time Steve likes the idea. The round glasses. He’s god. Tell me what you think (see caricature). Thanks Steve… another image for my collection. Good luck. Look forward to our next sitting. I was about to speak after a hypnotist… But that’s another story.
