THINK YOU DONT LIKE GREEN TEA? A phrase we hear so many times is ‘I’ve tried green tea and I didn’t like it’, well it’s confession time, many years ago I said exactly the same thing! But I realise now this is like saying ‘I’ve tried bread and I didn’t like it’, there are so many variants available, there really is something to suit everyones tastes. I unfortunately left it years before trying green teas again (despite being aware of the numerous health benefits). How I wish someone had taken the time to explain to me what I am about to explain to you :) Firstly people are often under the impression there is one type of green tea but you can have it in lots of different ‘flavours’. This misconception has grown from the varieties of flavoured green teas available in the supermarkets. But factors such as the country of origin, the area that the plant is grown, the part of the plant used, the processes used once the tea leaves are plucked and of course the quality of the tea, all create many very different tasting green teas. This is all before you even start thinking about adding in any additional ingredients. Another factor is how you have brewed your tea. Adding boiling water to green and white tea burns the delicate leaves and can give you a bitter taste (sound familiar?), along with brewing it for too long. How many of you have just left the tea bag in the cup whilst you drink it? All of our teas are sent out with specific brewing instructions to ensure you get the best from your tea, nothing complicated or time consuming, just directions on temperature and timings. As with anything, the quality of the product is going to have an effect on the flavour. Ideally we would recommend our loose leaf teas (which can be used with one of our infusers just as easily as a tea bag), but appreciate a bag is so convenient for the office etc. Compare one of our green tea pyramid bags with one you may have purchased from the supermarket. Our pyramid bags give room for the tea to circulate, our tea is not the ‘dust’ you find in other brands, being made from silk and not bleached paper gives a cleaner flavour. All of the teas on our website, whether you are interested in white, green, oolong, black or herbal, have tasting notes to help you make your initial choice. We also send out a free sample with every order, to give our customers the opportunity to try other tea types! So I challenge the green tea virgins, the green tea haters, and the green tea drinkers under sufferance amongst you, to have a look at our range and see if we can convert you into green tea lovers..... kensingtontea/shop/green-tea/
