THIRD ANNUAL IMPROV COMEDY NIGHT Come ready to laugh at the River Rat’s Improv Troupe as they present a night of improvisational comedy Friday, November 21st at 7:30 PM at Turner Hall, 518 Vine Street, Boonville. Improvisational theatre is as old as speech. Long before we wrote scripts we were telling stories by acting them out. Throughout history there have been many different improvisational styles. Todays’ style likely dates back to the Commedia DellArte, which was popular throughout Europe starting in the mid-1500s. Troupes of performers would travel from town to town, presenting shows in the public squares and on makeshift stages. This is what the River Rat Improv Troupe will do for you. They will create a sketch on the spot. The action, the story and the characters will come to life before your eyes. The troupe leader will describe the improv game. The audience suggests a place or object, movie genre, a profession, etc. and the scene begins. If you enjoy “Whose Line is it Anyway?’ you will love this performance. Cost at the door is $5. Drinks and snacks including beer and wine will be available for purchase. For more info go to riverratsforthearts.org or email RiverRatArt@gmail.
