Charlie Maxwell homered twice for Motown, and Al Kaline lit up Tom Lasorda for a dinger as well. Billy Hoeft allowed just five hits for his complete game win. A—10,102. 1958—The Athletics wrapped up their 12-game home stand at 6-6 with a 12-6 thumping of the Yankees. Roger Maris went 4-for-6 with a homer, Hector Lopez homered, and Harry Simpson went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. A—30,606. Total attendance for the 3-game series: 93,603. 1961--The Orioles completed 4-game sweep of the As with a 6-2 win. Kansas City led 2-0 before Baltimore scored twice in the 5th inning and four more times in the 6th. A--10,415. 1966--Boog Powell drove in two with a single in the 7th and the Orioles beat the As 5-2. The attendance figure for this game was identical to the previous nights 11,291. 1969--Kansas City and Minnesota split a doubleheader, with the Royals winning the first game 7-2 and the Twins beating the Royals for the first time ever in KC in the nightcap (and convincingly, to boot), 12-2. Wally Bunker threw a complete game in the first match, in which Mike Fiore and Bob Oliver both homered. Game two featured the home plate collision between catcher Buck Martinez and Twins outfielder Bob Allison depicted here. Minnesota scored six runs in the top of the 2nd as Jim Kaat picked up his first career win vs. the Royals.
