THIS DATE (OCTOBER 22) IN GOSHEN FOOTBALL: 1921 - defeated Garrett, 26-14. 1922 - defeated Valparaiso, 18-6. 1927 - Dan Yoder scored two touchdowns, Paul George and Bob Rule one apiece as Goshen, now nicknamed the Redskins, shut out Plymouth 26-0. Among other GHS standouts were Nate Warstler and Dale Peffley. 1932 - defeated LaPorte, 14-6. 1943 - defeated Fort Wayne North, 13-6. 1971 - Lyle Pestow had 9 tackles and 2 assists as the Redskins, coached by Frank Houk, defeated the Fort Wayne South Side Archers 12-6 at Foreman Field. Bob Sheline and Greg Sample had fumble recoveries and Bob Hoke an interception. Bruce Barker completed 13 of 27 passes for 160 yards. Dave Myers and Barker scored Goshen touchdowns. 1982 - Dan Knapp scored in a blocked punt as Goshen trimmed the DeKalb Barons 13-6 at Foreman. Steve Danforth scored the other touchdown and Heath Cunningham recovered a fumble. 1993 - Kipp Barhydt scored two touchdowns and kicked five extra points as GHS socked the South Bend Clay Colonials, 35-13, in a sectional game at Foreman Field. Kenyon Hartfield carried 11 times for 152 yards and two TDs. Travis Elliott completed 11 of 15 passes for 131 yards. Todd Nisley scored a TD; Todd Stelma, Barhydt and Allen Hodge had interceptions; Fred Ratcliff and James Barton fumble recoveries. 1999 - The Redskins, playing at home, sailed to a 63-6 sectional win over the South Bend LaSalle Lions. Dan Yoder scored three TDs, Tom Mikel and Tom Judd two each, Kevin Park and Josh Hile one apiece. Vicente Mejia kicked six extra points and Trenton Beachy three. Josh Barton, Ryan Lewallen and Aaron Holderman had interceptions and Kevin Russell a fumble recovery. 2010 - Goshen captures a 49-31 sectional shootout at Michigan City with Tony Pung scoring three TDs, Chunie Pung two, Carson Roberts and Zach Eldridge one each. Quillan Barrett carries 25 times for 143 yards and C. Pung 9 for 125. Roberts completes 11 of 19 passes for 174, T. Pung catching 7 for 120. On defense, Brad Taylor has two interceptions; T.J. Cupp and Brandon Daniels fumble recoveries.
