THIS DAY, IN 1948: November 19 As the showers were reported, people began to flock in increasing numbers to the convent grounds. Monsignor Alfredo Verzosa, Bishop of Lipa, was not please with the happenings and ordered the Carmelite Sisters to withdraw the image from public veneration. On the afternoon of November 19, Bishop Verzosa hastened to Lipa in anger, determined to chastise his Auxiliary Bishop, Alfredo Obviar and to put an end to the entire affair. However, upon entering the monastery door, a shower of petals fell on him. The dumbfounded old bishop knelt down and prayed. With this, he told the Prioress to return the image of Our Lady to the window for veneration and permitted the celebration of the Mass.
