THIS DAY IN ARKANSAS WEATHER HISTORY... 1878-One inch of snow fell at Mount Ida. 1901-Bitter cold continued to grip the state, with highs mostly in the 20s. 1924-For the second day, temperatures reached the 70s and 80s. The highest reading was at Huttig, with 84 degrees. 1929-Tornadoes hit Fort Smith and Grannis in Polk County. 1989-Light snow fell, with a little under half an inch in the Little Rock metro area. 2000-Lows were in the single digits and teens in much of the state. Deer fell to zero. 2001-Two to four inches of rain fell in much of the state.
