THIS DAY IN ARKANSAS WEATHER HISTORY... Aug. 29 1955-A tropical depression passed across eastern Oklahoma and produced up to two inches of rain in western Arkansas. 1967-Most lows were in the 40s to lower 50s. 1978-Tropical storm Debra moved across the state with four to six inches of rain in most areas except the northwest. 1984-Most highs were over 100 in the north. Yellville and Lead Hill reached 110. 1986-Most lows were in the 40s to lower 50s. Yellville fell to 38 degrees. Aug. 30 1954-Many highs were at or above 105 degrees. For the second consecutive day, Arkadelphia reached 111 degrees. 1983-Morrilton had its 16th and last consecutive day of 100 degree weather. 1986-Most lows were in the 40s and lower 50s for the second consecutive day. 2000-The state was at the peak of a major heat wave. Nearly every location in the state saw high temperatures at or above 100 degrees. Many locations were above 105 degrees. North Little Rock saw its all-time record high temperature of 111, a record which would be tied 11 years later. The Hot Springs Airport also reached 111, with 110 at El Dorado, Batesville, Gilbert, Dierks, and Hot Springs National Park. 2012-Through September 1st, The remnants of Hurricane Isaac moved across western Arkansas. Most of the state received rain, but areas from near Searcy to Pine Bluff to west of Monticello received anywhere from four to ten inches of rain. Serious flooding occurred around Fordyce and Pine Bluff.
