THIS DAY IN ARKANSAS WEATHER HISTORY... Oct. 10 1897-Showers at Dodd City/Keesees Ferry marked the first rainfall since August 14th...a total of 57 days. 1931-Most highs were in the 90s. Dumas reached 98. 2000-Many lows were in the 20s to lower 30s. Gilbert bottomed out at 23. 2001-Strong thunderstorms downed trees and power lines and damaged buildings mostly over western and central Arkansas. Oct. 11 1927-A tornado touched down in Mississippi County with 5 dead. 1963-Through the 15th, several months of very dry weather culminated in widespread highs in the 90s and many forest fires. 1969-Heavy rain fell in the north with 6.27 inches at Yellville. 1984-Heavy rains and floods were seen in southern and central sections. The worst was in Lafayette County. 2001-Heavy rain and flash flooding was seen over southern Arkansas. 2004-7.85 inches of rain fell at Rison, the results of the remnants of Tropical Storm Matthew. Oct. 12 1943-General two to four inch rains through the 13th broke a drought. 1946-A freeze and frost occurred in most of the state except the east. 1973-A tornado touched down at Dardanelle. 1975-Highs were mostly in the lower 90s. 1979-Waldron reached 95 degrees.
