THIS IS A SHOUT OUT TO THE LADIES. Girls. Do you think that you will achieve your weight loss goals or aspirations covering the length of the country each week on the treadmill, stepper or cross trainer? Yes. It will help. Absolutely, it will. But….. Those weights aren’t gonna lift themselves. Before we begin, let’s dispel some myths. There is a wide belief or fear that picking up a weight means you’re gonna wake up in the morning with arms that would put Mr. Olympia to shame. Not gonna happen. Why? For the following reasons: Women do not have the same muscle building hormones that males do, due to the massively lower levels of testosterone To achieve that manly look and build significant levels of mass, you will need to take some sort of enhancing drug. And we’re not talking Viagra, either Or, you have a very uncommon level of high testosterone, which is extremely rare in women Here are a few benefits as to why you need to get the bloke off the squat rack ,who insists on using it to do his bicep curls ;) Fat burn - Lifting any type of resistance elevates the body’s metabolism, and will continue to do so long after you’ve finished your workout. Lean muscle growth will eventually lead to visible toning, and definition. Improved functionality - An increase in lean tissue means that you will be stronger, not to mention fitter, and this leads to better functional movement in general. Increased bone strength - Lifting weights increase bone density, thus decreasing the risk of osteoporosis in later life. Better balance - An increase in functionality leads to an increase in balance and co - ordination in your day to day activities, not to mention your footwork on the dance floor :) There’s just a few benefits to weight training for women. Girls. YOU NEED TO GET ON THIS. Comment below, if you’re already a lifter, or just ask the good ladies of FF :)
