THIS IS HERESY Some men came down from Judea and began teaching the brethren, Unless you are CIRCUMCISED(Greek: peritemno - to cut something off or away) according to the custom of Moses, YOU CANNOT BE SAVED. Act 15:1 These men from Judea came to the Church at Antioch, and began to teach believers some ERRORS. I have heard people used the word heresy times without numbers, mostly on GRACE BELIEVERS. Infact, i can remember one telling me that THE MESSAGE OF GRACE IS HERESY. Some use other words on us. But most of them dont even know what HERESY MEANS. And biblical there were issues where people brought heresy to the church, just like these certain men from Judea. The word heresy is from the ancient greek word hairesis, and it means a system of principles. There are system of principles in the church today that are really heresies. The Jerusalem Council members had to address this particular heresy that these Judiazers brought to the Church at Antioch. We will judge for ourselves if we still have these men in the Church of today, and if this heresy is still in the present day church. What was the heresy? The men said, IT IS NECESSARY TO CIRCUMCISE THE GENTILES AND TO ORDER THEM TO OBSERVE THE LAW OF MOSES. Act 15:5 They were saying that as a believer, we are meant to be circumcise. This is what we call a biblical heresy. Not just being circumcised, but they also said, THAT THE BELIEVERS SHOULD ALSO KEEP THE LAW OF MOSES. What that means is, KEEPING THE LAW OF MOSES is HERESY. We dont need to keep the law of Moses to be SAVED. Salvation is by GRACE through FAITH. Observing the LAW does not save; but believing in the FULFILED LAW saves. SAVED BY GRACE! Eph 2:8
