THIS IS IT The News Leader EXPOSED FROM SECRET FILES *Biti group confirms plan to destroy MDC *Targets journalists By Itai Dzamara The group of MDC rebels led by Tendai Biti is secretly working on destroying the MDC under the leadership of Morgan Tsvangirai, files leaked from within it have proved. The group has been identifying journalists deemed unsympathetic to its mission, and mobilising its members to wage cyber warfare as well as issue threats. Myself, together with Daily News editor, Stanley Gama and Nehanda Radio editor, Lance Guma were identified as the major targets for the attacks. However, a member of the inner group within the Biti camp chose to become a whistleblower after a plan had been made to target me with both a cyber warfare and a barrage of threats. The whistleblower approached me and revealed the plan orchestrated by Promise Mkwananzi, former secretary general of the MDC youth assembly, who is among those spearheading the Biti project. Through the whistleblower, l was presented with access to files from a whatsapp chat group created by Mkwananzi and involving several other members of the Biti camp, within and outside Zimbabwe. Among other names of individuals on the chat group are Nhidza, Jeke, Marshall, Kauzani, Masara, Mawire and Tumbo. On the chat group, Mkwananzi and his colleagues deliberate about plans, programmes and other issues. In a recent discussion, Mkwananzi was challenged to explain the situation, and he revealed the secret plans, which are contrary to the claims being made by the Biti group. One of the members inquired, Leader Mkwananzi l feel yu still have to answer our questions coz, hameno kune vamwe, the audios are very faint? Mkwananzi responded, The first thing is that as things stand we now have two parties within one. In our case the idea is to leave Gumbura severely damaged that he has no chance to recover. Meanwhile, we are moving towards the creation of a grand coalition with other political parties, civil society, business, diaspora, churches informal traders etc. By using Gumbura, the rebels refer to Tsvangirai. The debate by other members on Mkwananzis outline showed that some of them were mystified by the revelation. More information revealed by the whistleblower, who is very close to Mkwananzi, shows that the rebel group has also been using huge sums of funds to try and buy members within the MDC structures to cause the severe damage on the party. In public, the claim by the Biti group has been that it is working on a leadership renewal project in the MDC. However, there have been reports linking the rebels to a secret pact with hidden forces, including Zanu PF, for the purpose of destroying the MDC. I also got access to messages from the chat group showing how Mkwananzi and his colleagues identified me on last week and mobilised their members to launch an onslaught against me. Guys please go attack Itai Dzamara on Facebook, Mkwananzi called upon the group members. I received a message in my facebook inbox from the whistleblower saying, Dzamara be careful, the renewal guys have planned to target you, Stanley Gama and Lance Guma. Some of them are even thinking of harming you. I didnt take this seriously at first. However, indeed, a huge flood of friend requests filled my facebook account. I took a position to confirm all of them, the majority of whom used fake names. Immediately, messages started pouring, characterised by open provocations and threats. The Biti group members inundated my articles with comments meant to trash me and my writings, including making naked threats. By the time Julius Magarangoma, former chairman for Manicaland Province in the MDC, and Toendepi Shonhe, the former director general of the party, sent friendship requests almost at the same time, it had become clear to me that the whole rebel group, including the top team, were involved in the plot against me. I didnt confirm Magarangoma and Shonhes requests, which are still pending together with that of Last Tamai Maingehama, a former MDC executive member also involved in the Biti mission. Another informer using a fake name sent a message to my facebook account saying, Watch your back the renewal team is after you. They say you are killing them with your articles. I have continued to receive each and every message posted on the rebels whatsapp group, where Mkwananzi and company still plot about me. On Thursday one of the members inquired, Guys l need to be enlighten by those in the know, is it true kuti Amai Sekai Holland vaita meeting naGumbura? There is one fool, Itai Dzamara who posted about it on his wall. Mkwananzi responded, Ndamuudza kuti anonyepa, iye ega Sekai ngataure. It has been easy for me to identify individuals that have been issuing threats to me through facebook and then going on to share with their colleagues on the chat group.
