THIS IS LONG BUT IT COULD HELP! I saw something on my time hop that upset me and made me really want to say something and put this out there because a lot of people my age dont understand how your life can be changed in the blink of an eye. A little over a year ago I was in a traumatic and awful accident. Bad night and caught a ride back to Carson Newman from Knox, & i didnt think about asking if the driver was drunk or anything, because honestly i didnt care either way. I thought that wont ever happen to me, ive never been in an accident and tar i been in the car with someone who had been drinking before and we made it, he was a good friend what could go wrong? and shit i had to get back to campus somehow. We got food, and made it almost completely back, and within a mile from the dorm the driver turned down a back road and started going unnecessarily fast the other 2 passengers said they were scared and slow down, nothing could come out of my mouth i was frozen. He took a 35 mph curve going over 80. Turned out the driver was twice the legal limit. I was in and out of consciousness but i will never get the image of my bestfriend grabbing her head,, having blood everywhere and hysterically crying out of my head. Ive never been so hurt physically or emotionally. Being in the hospital and having drs come in and say you broke your back in multiple places and you need to have surgery to reconstruct your ankle was awful, going through that while you are completely alone in a room cause your family is hours away made it worse. This night truly changed my life, not just emotionally. I have injuries now that are life long. I still have awful pain in my back and foot, not to mention the lovely plate and 7 screws, and a permanent knot in my chest where i fractured my sternum. Cierra also broke her back in multiple places where she had to wear a turtle shell, and her jaw was wired shut, try eating out of straws... it wasnt pretty. I am fortunate enough to have amazing friends like baily and analyn who helped ABOVE AND BEYOND, and Cierra LéShea Phillips family who took care of both of us when i would stay with her since she was stuck in a hospital bed and her brother who had to carry me up every staircase we faced lol. Ill never be able to repay any of them for all they did
