The intro by Joel Edwards of Micah Challenge & Exposed Campaign - As Lent begins, our EXPOSED Campaign gives us a new lens through which to look at Easter. Emerging from this great story we begin to see the corruption that permeated so many of the events. At the climax of the final week of Jesus’ life, lies the iconic image of the thirty pieces of silver given to Judas. But thirty pieces of silver was more than a personal betrayal. It was an institutional bribe. A backhand bribe, a kangaroo court, and a compromised Pilate were all part of the political and religious intrigue. Even Jesus burial and resurrection were shrouded with a Jerusalemgate secrecy. The Cross plunges into our current affairs, exposing deep-seated issues of power, abuse and injustice. It turns out that Golgotha was the most politicised place on earth, which makes the mystery of redemption even bigger and better than many of us give God credit for. Sadly, corruption is not something the Church is immune from today - and yet we say so little about it. Thats why today together with our Bible Society partners across the world, were launching Thirty Pieces of Silver. This resource offers a new lens to see that todays struggles with bribery, corruption and injustice, were already at the heart of those events 2000 years ago.
