THIS IS THE NEW YORKER? I actually like reading Adam Gopnik when he writes about food or Paris, but as so often happens when aesthetes wander into politics, the result is overheated nonsense. In this case, he is defending Obama from attacks on his manliness. At the start, it seems like an exercise is brave (if over-egged) truth-telling, but then as it meanders into a defense it becomes ever sillier. My real problem is with the tone: this just doesnt sound like the traditional New Yorker voice. Did the venerable magazine get hacked?
