THIS IS WRONG... These two dogs and two others were put down after two dogs tested positive for parvo. Were there no other options? And now the shelter is shut down for two days. This is what we are being told. That they(DCAC) under the law , can not transfer dogs to anyone if they test positive for parvo. Other metro shelters do it all the time. They send them to rescues, fosters and adopters to be treated. They quarantine them onsite until they can find a solution but they do not just KILL them. So are all these other shelters breaking the law or was this just the easy way out? We find this unacceptable. These two dogs have been there since November 21 and 25 and supposedly were vaccinated against the parvo virus at intake. So how would they test positive or be unprotected at this point? The other two dogs Carla and Dowdy came in on 12/7. ALL FOUR were put down. And will others loose their life due to this parvo scare. We certainly hope they will not meet the same fate as the 77 cats they put down because ONE cat tested positive Feline panleukopenia. Rest in Peace little ones...
