THIS JUST IN! MEGA FIRE THE SIZE OF IRELAND BURNS OUT OF CONTROL IN NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA! A State Of Emergency Was Declared On October 3, Just Two Days Into The Official Fire Season. Although Technically In Season, It Is Extremely Rare For Fires Of This Type To Begin This Early And Many Were Caught Unawares. In The Intervening Weeks, Some 36 Separate Fires Have Been Declared Out Of Control, With The Three Primary Aspects Of The Overall Fire Moving Steadily Toward Each Other. These Three Now Approach The Point Of Convergence; Spreading To Cover Some 30,000 Hectares. The Duration Of The Fires And Their Potential Devastation Are Impossible To Predict At This Time Due To The Unseasonably Warm And Dry Weather In The Affected Region. To This Point, One Death, That Of A Man In His Nineties, Has Been Attributed To The Effects Of The Fires. Firefighters Are Working Desperately Around The Clock To Prevent The Inferno Reaching A Nearby Mine, An Explosives Depository And CSG (Fracking) Wells. The Flames Are Also Located In An Area Held Most Sacred By The Indigenous Population.
