THIS JUST IN (via e-mail): Gov. Peter Shumlin’s statement following Joint Fiscal action today on the FY15 budget: “Making spending cuts after a budget has been passed is never easy or painless. I want to assure Vermonters that we’ve done everything we can to make these cuts responsibly, protect hard working taxpayers and preserve the state’s fiscal integrity. All Vermonters are better off for the Administration and Joint Fiscal Committee having taken prompt, decisive action. This cooperative effort shows Vermont has not deviated from its commitment to fiscal responsibility. We met the challenge of matching our spending with slower revenue growth than projected. I thank my Agency Secretaries and Commissioners, as well as the Joint Fiscal Committee, for their work.”
