THIS NEWS HAS BEEN A LONG TIME COMING, AND I AM SO HAPPY TO FINALLY ANNOUNCE THE CHANGES IN THE WORKS! As you may know, my husband Sandor and I own the lovely building that has been the home of Santa Cruz Dance Company for the past 7 of our 12 years in business. Our studio was born in 2002 when Frank Duncan and I shared a beautiful one-room studio in Aptos. Over the years we have grown, and our community has been solid. For those of you who have danced with us for many years, or come and gone as it worked for your schedule, as well as those who have joined us recently, we cherish the life, joy and passion you bring, and we love you for it! We put the studio on the market almost a year ago, with an open mind to all possibilities. Our program had become a smaller, concentrated set of classes, allowing me time to raise my teenage son (who was just a baby when we opened) and expand my career with Zumba Fitness as an educator. I’ve also been able to indulge in my other passions, including nutrition, dance & wellness retreats, healthy lifestyle and disease-prevention mentoring and online cleanses and detox programs. Since January of this year, I have had the pleasure of working with over 500 enthusiastic ‘clients’ from all over the world. Who could have predicted that such important and life changing impact could be made, for others and for myself, within an online structure? We were clear that, as much as we love the building we currently dance in, it’s the people that truly matter, not the space. And so...we are thrilled to announce that we will actually be leasing the building out, long-term, to a sweet and innovative pre-school and aftercare facility while we move a modified class schedule to Pacific Arts Complex (PAC) located at 1122 Soquel Ave in Santa Cruz. The owners and creators of this mega-hip and popular studio; Mireya, David, Leslie and Tisha (former SCDC staff members :) ) have been amazing and welcoming to us, and have been ready for us to move in since May. Their spacious, urban dance space has a beautiful sprung wood dance floor, is flooded with natural light and is located within walking distance of some of Santa Cruz’s best restaurants and cafes including Midtown Café, Charlie Hong Kong, The Crepe Place, Lillian’s Italian Kitchen, as well as Whole Foods and Staff of Life Markets. They also have a massive parking lot, ready and waiting for our SCDC bustle and post-class conversations. MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THESE IMPORTANT DATES & EVENTS: PLEASE JOIN US ON FRIDAY OCT 3rd from 7pm-9:30pm for a staff and SCDC community appreciation & celebration potluck dinner. Come at 7 with something to share (appetizers, salad, favorite dish or dessert or beverage). This will take place at Santa Cruz Dance Company at 2800 Porter St. in Soquel. AND... SUNDAY OCTOBER 5th from 10-11:15ish. Sneak peek mega Zumba masterclass at the new space on Sunday October 5th, with Joy, Mitch Danu, Angel and... $15 drop in or use your SCDC pass. This class will take place at PAC 1122 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz. WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 1st Our modified schedule will begin while we are still at SCDC, 2800 Porter Street, Soquel location (see schedule below). FRIDAY OCTOBER 10th, at 10am Zumba w/ Joy Our first regular class begins at PAC, 1122 Soquel Ave location. MODIFIED SCHEDULE BEGINS OCTOBER 1st (at Porter Street) Monday 10am-Mitch Tuesday 10am- Angel (look for team teaching w/ Joy) Wednesday 10am- Joy Thursday 10am-Mitch & Angel team teach and alternate. Friday 10am-Joy Saturday 10am-Mitch Sunday 10am-by announcement only, look for special classes added here with Joe, Angelo, Jenny, Joy and special guests. *Not receiving our weekly updates?
