THIS SUNDAY, MARCH 30, 2014! UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS SCHOOL OF MUSIC! It is such a joy and honor to have my great mentor from Yale University, RANSOM WILSON, internationally acclaimed flute virtuoso and master teacher coming to the University of Redlands School of Music to work with my flute studio and selected students from the southern California area in a set of FREE MASTER CLASSES and RECITAL OPEN TO THE PUBLIC THIS SUNDAY, MARCH 30, 2014 at 1pm - 6:30 PM! Such a tremendous and inspirational opportunity for all to attend! Please read below for full details! Hope to see you there! Internationally acclaimed flute virtuoso, conductor and teacher, Ransom Wilson is long recognized as one of the greatest musicians of our time. He has appeared in concert and recorded with incredible orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony and London Symphony, to name only a few and has collaborated with amazing artists such as Jean-Pierre Rampal (his former mentor), Hilary Hahn, Frederica von Stade, Jessye Norman, Sir James Galway, Robin Sutherland, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and many others. He is the winner of countless awards of musical excellence and is a Grammy-nominated recording artist with numerous recordings to his name on celebrated labels such as Angel/EMI, RCA, Orion and Music Heritage Society. Incredibly versatile musician. conductor and teacher, he is an Artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Assistant Conductor of the Metropolitan Opera and is Artistic Director of Le Train Bleu and Professor of Flute at Yale University. BRING YOUR FLUTE! 2 PM to 5PM: MASTER CLASS with selected students from the University of Redlands School of Music as well as guest students from the community. 5 PM - 5:30 PM: Small reception following the class 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Maestro Wilson will give a fantastic solo recital with piano and I will have the honor of performing with him on this incredible concert: RECITAL PROGRAM: *J.S. Bach - Sonata in B Minor, bwv 1030 *Franz Doppler - Andante and Rondo, op. 25 with flutist, Sara Andon - U of Redlands Artist Teacher of Flute *Three Works for Solo Flute - Claude Debussy- Syrinx - Jean Rivier- Oiseaux tendres - André Jolivet- Ascèses I: “Pour que demeure le secret, nous tairons jusqu’au silence…” *Gabriel Faure - Sonata in A Major, op.13 FANTASTIC COLLABORATIVE ARTISTS for this event will be PIANISTS, Lara Urrutia, Stephanie Lovell, Mike Burgos and Nelms McKelvain. The great FLUTACIOUS! (flutacious) will also be there with lots of wonderful flutes and piccolos to try as well as an assortment of other fun flute goodies! AND IT IS FREE!
