THIS TUESDAY EVENING, 11 MARCH 2014, please join us in celebrating the lives of three extraordinary South African Women. One of the heroic characters in the Festival of Purim, is Queen Esther. At great sacrifice to herself she came to the rescue of the Jewish community of Persia. In South Africa today we too have many remarkable and inspiring women who contribute to the betterment of society. SAJBD and UJW will celebrate the lives and achievements of 3 of these women. Nomvula Mokonyane, Premier of Gauteng Province, will share the story of her involvement in active politics from the age of 15. Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, Vice-Principal Research and Innovation at UNISA and President of the Wits Convocation, is a renowned, inspiring educator. Her path from Ga-Rankuwa to being named most influential woman educator is a remarkable journey. Marlene Bethlehem, from her distinguished career as an international tennis player at Wimbledon to the first woman President of the SA Jewish Board of Deputies and Vice Chairperson of the Cultural, Religious and Linguistics Commission will also share her story.
