THIS WAS A GREAT EVENT! Sharks in a Tank (the brainchild of Traci Jaycox Glover) was the first teen business plan competition hosted by Erie Martin Luther King Center. The judges were Mike Maggio, Tina Atkinson Gavin, Tashana Pullium and Michael X. Anderson ( Mlk Showcase). First prize was $1,000 and some of the judges kicked in to make it $2,000! The winning team was T&B Cupcake Bakery, a team that was coached and mentored by Veronica Crowe. The other teams were very competitive as well and we appreciated their participation. A special thank you goes out to Councilman Andre Horton for his encouraging words to our teens at the event! The Downtown YMCA Teen Center - Erie, PA, the John F KennedyCenter and the MLK Center are teaming up to not only help the participating teams develop the ideas that they presented, but to introduce them to the world of entrepreneurship with the help of local academic advisers and small business owners.
