THIS WAS MY CHRISTMAS MESSAGE- COMMENTS WELCOME THE REASON WHY WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS Mat 2:1-12 Chapter 2 1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. 5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea:for thus it is written by the prophet, 6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda:for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. 7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. 9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him:and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. 12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. (KJV) AT CHRISTMAS GOD STEP DOWN THAT MEN MIGHT STEP UP Many people dont understand christmas and to many Christmas is the most sinful period for them. WHAT IS THE REASON FOR CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS 1, It is the celebration of generosity of divinity towards humanity GOD HAD ONLY ONE SON AND RELEASED HIM FOR MANKIND Rom 8:31-32 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? (KJV) ANYTHING GOD HAVE WILL BE GIVEN TO MAN. 2, CELEBRATION OF GODS PASSION FOR RELATIONSHIP WITH MAN Mat 1:23 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (KJV) WE CELEBRATE GOD PURSUING HIS CREATURE. GOD CAME TO LOOK FOR US. 3, It is the celebration of God certainty of His will and plan for man Isa 14:27 27 For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back? (KJV) 4,It is the celebration of Gods value for man Jn 3:16 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV) Cost determines value. We are valuable in Gods sight 5, It is the celebration of infallibility of Gods word or promise to man. Gods promise shall come to pass. Num 23:19 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (KJV) God cannot lie 3 reasons why men lie 1, infirmity of character 2, impotence of memory 3, uncertainty of circumstances Rom 3:4 4 God forbid:yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. (KJV) LESSONS FROM THE PASSAGE. 1, Wise men seek Jesus but foolish men shun Jesus Psa 14:1 Psalm 14 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (KJV) Psa 53:1 Psalm 53 To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David. 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. (KJV) THE WISDOM OF A MAN IS DETERMINED BY THE QUALITY OF HIS WORSHIP 2, The power of Christ is the panick of the wicked EVERYONE IS AS POWERFUL AS THEIR FEAR. YOU CANT BE MORE POWERFUL THAN YOUR FEAR. WHATEVER FRIGHTENS YOU WILL EVENTUALLY CONQUER YOU. The fearfulness of herod confirmed his defeat Whatever you fear will conquer you, To be ruled by your fear is to be ruined by your fear.
