The band performs mainly original songs, complimented by a sprinkling of covers of artists including Tony Joe White, Dylan, Kelly, Tom Waits, and the Hoodoo Gurus. SATURDAY - PBS 106.7FM Melbourne DJs + The Bird ft Bobby Singh/Tabla. Dave Boots from Soul-A-Go-Go on PBS is back ready to kick off our night Saturday, followed by The Bird. A pretty special event, live meets the electronic. As The Bird, Ben Walsh (drums) and Simon Durrington (keyboards) for the last 18 years have sought an organic interpretation of computer-generated forms of music, combing live dubstep, drum’n’bass, breakbeats and electro synth lines, with sounds from the Asian Underground, and heavy dub vibes. The Bird have toured Australia and overseas extensively, playing at many venues and festivals including Glastonbury Festival, Falls Festival, Adelaide Festival and the Sydney Opera House to name but a few. They will also be featuring Bobby Singh on tabla. Bobby is an internationally renowned tabla player, both in traditional Indian classical music and cross cultural genres, and is renowned throughout Australia and internationally for his work with acts that straddle the divide between tradition and modernity.
