This panel will bring together a dynamic group of artists, scholars, journalists and activists to lead a conversation examining the intersection of gender and power in hip-hop music and culture. The conversation will focus on hip-hops impact on the creative integrity of women artists, the unique boundaries women encounter in this male dominated industry, hip-hops effect on the identity development of the next generation of girls and the ways in which hip-hop can be used as a tool to elevate womens voices, frame feminist thought and shape womens empowerment.
