THIS WEEK IN THE STRUGGLE (A look at topics, issues and personalities in The Struggle) VOL. # 10/ SEPTEMBER 26TH TO OCTOBER 2ND 2014: Sometimes things become tough and one begins to wonder whether the promised land shall ever be arrived at. Its not just about the enemies of The Struggle, but individuals and groups that are supposed to be combatants in it go after each other so hard that success starts to look far-fetched and doubtful. Yet still, there always seem to be people who are willing and determined to ensure that the soul of The Struggle is protected. The latter is a very good sign because all revolutions in the past have had to confront and deal with their own peculiar challenges. We are all in the Gambian predicament together and there is no doubt that we shall fall or rise in it together. THE DISCOURSE OF THE REVOLUTION: In the past decade plus years, there has emerged among Gambians in the diaspora, a systematic discussion of all issues Gambian. In a broader context, progressive forces in the world have evolved the Anti-colonial, Neo-colonial and Pan-African discourses. We went to schools and studied this various genres of progressive discourses and they become woven into our dictions and phraseologies. This has given our discourses a particular slant and vibe. That is also the source of the pomp and popularity of these discourses. This has to be said, WHEN A BLACK MONKEY STARTS TO ACT LIKE A RED MONKEY, HE ENDS UP BEING PHONY. That aint mean he is not a monkey, it simply means he aint a red monkey. Similarly, Yaya Jammeh criminally putting his dirty fingers in the vibes of progressive discourse, and attempting to use it to his advantage, does not make him progressive for even one second. He is nothing but some damn retarded reactionary traditionalist. THE REPATRIATION OF GAMBIAN YOUTHS FROM MALTA: Here is yet another manifestation that all the rubbish Yaya Jammeh and his cronies say about his desire to promote the welfare of Gambian youths is pretense. A good politician is always a good enabler in terms of a peoples desire to realize their dreams. like my elder (Nna Kebba) Lamin Waa Juwara once said during a moment of sobriety, politicians have the tools that articulate and put into programs, the dreams of the people. Yaya Jammeh by wanting to have the stranded Gambian youths in Malta repatriated reveals the tremendous disconnect between his politics and the wishes and aspirations of Gambian youths. All these youths and their parents want is for them to enter Europe, so that they can help improve the collective wellbeing of their families. All that awaits them in The Gambia is socioeconomic deprivation. It is sad to realize that this is the reality that dictator Jammehs policies reinforce. THE UN ADDRESS; Once again we witness theatricalities on a grand scale. Over a wide scope of international space and issues, dictator Jammeh projects himself as the voice of a couple of rogue states. The worst is to come when the weed smoking drunkard his record reveals tries to be the spokesperson general of the Muslim Umma and Islam. We see the political upstart playing impostor to levels of outrageous dimensions. That Yaya Jammeh does not care about The Gambia is manifested on a massive scale. The speechs content is more about other people than Gambians. In all these, he borrows from the the rethorics of the progressive forces, thus showing all the more the phony aspect of himself!
