THIS WEEKEND AT BARNSLEY ROCK AND BLUES... FRI 25th - MYNAS + SIBERIA + SOULPRINT - indie/alternative/new wave Mynas began trading in South Yorkshire as a trio in 2007, and have steadily been gathering mass ever since. Currently a six piece and sporting two singers, violin and a robust organ, the songs are as much influenced by latin, classical and film music as they are by collective favourites like Elbow, Pixies, Jeff Buckley, Elvis Costello and The Smiths. After releasing a self-funded debut album in 2010, a spot of personnel feng shui resulted in Lady Sarah Evans (who had hitherto sang backing behind bands misanthropic and woefully myopic songwriter, Del Scott Miller) exploiting her obvious and enviable vocal attributes front and centre.
