THIS WEEKS RESULTS & NEWS Presentation Night; This Thursday the 26th of September is the Club Presentation night for season 2012/13, a lot of medals to be given out. All are welcome, 7pm at the Templemore Arms. On the Field; The outstanding fixture of the weekend was the u12 girls who took to the field for the first time and came away with a great victory, Joe Purcell is in for the manager of the month award. Streamstown Celtic 1 (Munster Junior Cup) BT Harps Junior A 4 The A-Team got the best of starts as James Kavanagh had the ball in the net in the first minute. Harps continued to dominate and Declan Fogarty made it 2 after 30 minutes. After the break Stefan Leahy made it 3-0. Aidan Fogarty completed the scoring on 70 minutes. The home side pulled 1 back with 10 to go but Harps were comfortable winners in the end, 4-1. Junior B-Team 2 (Munster Junior Cup) Portumna Town 0 The homeside had the better of the early exchanges, Joe Kennedy coming close on a couple of occasions. Then the breakthrough came, Paul Tuohy was taken down in the box and he dusted himself off to covert the spot kick. After the break it was visitors turn from the penalty spot but Dean Loughnane was up for the task and saved the resulting kick. Harps got their 2ND on 65 minutes when that man Tuohy scored again, this time getting on the end of a Kennedy cross. The lads held out for the victory but it took another brilliant save from Loughnane to keep the Portumna side at bay. U13A 6 Shinrone 1 Although the lads won 6-1 they made hard work of it. They faced an under strength Shinrone side, but Shinrone took 5 points off this team last season so they knew what they were up against. Harps dominated from the start and there was only 1 team in it, but with all their dominance they couldn’t put the ball in the net, shot after shot went wide or the inform keeper saved. When a Ben Stapleton shot was block by the keeper and the help of the post you felt it wasn’t going to be Harps day and then against the run on play Shinrone got in for a goal. Unbelievably it was 1-0 to the visitors at the break. But you felt if Harps got one goal, more would come and that’s what happened, the flood gates opened in the second period. Ciaran Byrne got them off the mark, they there was 2 wonder strikes from Conor McGrath that Messi would be proud of. The points were secure at this point so the lads started to relax and played some good football. Lorcan Campion got in on the act after making a great run. Marco Quinlan is always good for a goal and it came on 50 minutes. Ben Stapleton completed the scoring with 5 minutes to go. It was a well deserved victory but it didn’t look good at the break. Shinrone girls 0 BT Harps U12 girls 6 History was made at the weekend when the first juvenile girls team took to the field and what a display they put in. It was a great team performance from Emma Fitzpatrick in the goal, Taryn Purcell in defence up to Ellen Delaney in attack. Harps goals coming from Ellen Delaney, Sarah O Sullivan(2), Taryn Purcell, Kate Shanahan & Emma Cody. Team- Emma Fitzpatrick, Taryn Purcell, Katie Fennell, Kate Shanahan, Emma Cody, Ellen Delaney, Grainne Hennessy, Sarah O Sullivan & Aoife Devlan. Roscrea Utd 1 U11A 5 Great win away from home to get the lads off to a great start in the League. Goals From Killian Fennell(2), Conor Longe(2), Eddie Ryan(1). U11B 2 Shinrone 5 The B-Team went down in their first game of the season. Although they put in a great performance put it wasn’t to be, Both of Harps goals coming from Ciaran Barry.
