THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: Romans 16:15 says, “Salute Philologus...” Except for Paul’s desire for the Roman saints to say ‘hello’ to Philologus for him, we know nothing about this man. How could this verse be important to us? How could we possibly benefit from Paul’s greeting to this man? While we know nothing about this man, we can learn a lot from the meaning of his name. ‘Phileo’ is the Greek word for love. “Logos’ is the Greek word for Word. Philologus literally means ‘lover of the Word.’ If we are known for nothing else, we should be known as someone who loves the Word of God. When we love the Word of God, we will spend time studying it. When we study the Word of God, it will change our lives. When our lives are changed, people will notice. When people notice, we can tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ and His free offer of salvation. Are you a Philologus?
