THIS is a very a interesting observation and much more could be - TopicsExpress

THIS is a very a interesting observation and much more could be scripturally added. A couple years ago I posted 2 serious notes about the life of the Prophet, warnings to the prophets, and the role of the prophet today and some of this was included. I dont know the poster so I am not endorsing them in ANY way, but I would have to agree that this has a lot of truth in it. However, I think there are a few additional things to be said to the reader. I share this cautiously because often people can read things like this and ASSUME a position (as opposed to having received a calling), simply because they sense some similarities in characteristics. So please be advised, that is NOT the way in which callings work. GOD DIVINELY ELECTS, PREPARES, AFFIRMS, and CONFIRMS, not US. With that said, I add the life (both perils and victories) of the prophet (which were visible in the old and New Testament - the Apostles are noted as consulting with and receiving from them, including Paul) WERE NOT SELF INFLICTED, SOCIETAL, OR RESULTS OF POOR DECISIONS. Their life of extremes were ALWAYS a RESULT OF STRICT OBEDIENCE and not fleshly flukes. Their unique emotional state and character WAS NOT the result of PERSONALITY as much as it was CALLING and ELECTION. Their extreme living was the HANDIWORK of God and a further demonstration of HIS Word and their lives as PROPHETS. It kept their ear to HIM, eyes on HIM, dependence on Him, and mouth and heart in sync with HIS. I would further add that the PROPHETS WERE NOT LINKED IN. They were not tainted by the world, dependent on the world, or even ministry for that matter, did not seek worldly alliances, nor did they pursue ministry by their own leading. There were PREPARED, SENT, and also REQUESTED MOUTHPIECES who God spoke through AS HE WILLED in HIS own way, at HIS own time, for His own purposes. Their messages were filled with Gods heart, desires, instructions, warnings, strategies, anger, grace, mercy, and YES, LOVE, which was their FOUNDATIONAL motivation, not ONLY anger and frustration as some would like to think because of their strong convictions and directness. True prophets were not SEEKING money, using their gift for VANITY or PERSONAL GAIN, nor were they interesting in any form of status, as it would taint the validity of their ministry and knit them into relationships that their calling could not afford. These people we are describing were/are TRUE PROPHETS, not those with a prophetic grace or unction in ministration. As a whole, many of them today are unnamed and unknown.
