THIS just occurred to me because I was thinking about getting a Roth IRA. Back in 1985 I asked my Dad if he would buy two turntables and a mixer for my 12th B Day. Instead he got me a Les Paul knock off from the Trading Times for $125 because it was less expensive than the Dj setup AND I dont think he really understood the whole Dj thing to be honest. I shifted gears when I discovered MIDI in 1988. Anyway, long story short, I did not grow up with musicians in the family other than the ones on my moms side (who also helped me out along the way) but they lived far away and I only saw them once in a while. What I mean is I was not in a house with parents and siblings who played instruments like a lot of the gifted musicians I know. I take that back, we did live with my grandparents for a couple years and my grandma would play piano and sing but very rarely would this happen during that time. I do remember the piano to be out of tune most of the time. My grandpa K would also play organ music when we would visit once in a blue moon as well. Still nonetheless something like 30 years later Ive managed to create a successful music business. It will always be a part of my life even if I live to be 80. Was just thinking how crazy it will be if I do live to be like 80 or something making bass beats in my studio lol.
