THOU SHALT NOT ....I took Pearl (my bus) to Austin and recorded the tracks then, as I usually do, brought everything back to the barn here in Tennessee to toy with....adding color with instruments and trying vocal approaches, etc. Those low monk chants and mysterious ohs are me singing through a voice altering device that I found Mike Adams playing with one day during a rehearsal. It simulates all kinds of pre-set vocal sounds when you plug a microphone in and sing through it. I think there is actually a preset called monk chorus (?).... One afternoon Jeff Skunk Baxter (playing guitar on the song below / Steely Dan / Doobie Brothers) dropped by to hang and I coerced him into putting a lead guitar part on it.
