THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Ezekiel 47:1-12-Afterward he brought me again - TopicsExpress

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Ezekiel 47:1-12-Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. The “door of the house” speaks of the sanctuary from which the waters will flow, as well as, Christ. The “waters issued out” is representative of the Holy Spirit, who issues forth from Christ. Also note that it is “waters” and not water that issued out & came down; they issue forth from the “house” with its source being the throne of God. “From under the threshold of the house eastward,” shows that the waters will grow of themselves, & not naturally, as by side streams. The “threshold” speaks of the floor, spiritually it denotes humility. “At the south side of the altar,” denotes the course of the river; it is the altar of God, Calvary’s cross. 2 Then brought He me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looks eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side. Ezekiel was brought out of the gate northward, because the east inner & outer gates were shut. In a spiritual sense many hunger for the Lord, but they don’t know how to receive Him; even though the course is direct, it is not usually reached in a direct way, however, all will receive who persist, because all are invited to come. Revelation 22:17-And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hearssay, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. 3 And when the Man that had the line in His hand went forth eastward, He measured a thousand cubits, and He brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. “The Man” is Christ; as the waters issue out from under the threshold of the sanctuary & flow eastward, the channel widens. Here it is about 1,500 feet wide & is shallow (to the ankles). The ankles represent the entrance into the river, portraying salvation. 4 Again He measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again He measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. “Knees” signify prayer & total dependence on the Lord, those things being done by the power of the Holy Spirit instead of the flesh (the knees also portray the baptism of the Holy Spirit). What also is implied throughout this passage is that the Man with the line in His hand must be followed (Christ must be followed). The “loins” represent the procreative part of man, which points to the miracle working power of God; which should be manifested in all Spirit baptized believers. 5 Afterward He measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over. The “waters” are now a river that cannot be passed over. The river symbolizes a couple of things, 1. The whole gospel for the whole man; and 2. a physical type of the Holy Spirit, & His work within our lives. 6 And He said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then He brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river. Christ now directs Ezekiel’s attention from the path of the river, to its force. In this you now have the source, which is the sanctuary (the throne of God; the course/path, which is by the altar (the cross of Christ); and the force, which portrays what the river does. 7 Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. The trees the bearing of much fruit. John 15:5-I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abidesin Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. 8 Then said He unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. The river is to bring life to the “desert”, as the Holy Spirit alone through Christ can bring life to the unregenerate man, who is dead in trespasses & sins. This also literally speaks of the Dead Sea be healed; which is also symbolic of what the Lord can do through the Holy Spirit in a person’s life. John 7:37-39-In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.38 He that believes on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.39 (But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) 9 And it shall come to pass, that every thing that lives, which moves, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. This again portrays what Christ can do in the heart and life of any individual, and I mean any. “And everything shall live whither the river comes,” portrays the result of the born-again, Spirit-filled life. 10 And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many. Spiritually this speaks of the harvest of souls, in which the Holy Spirit has always been engaged in doing. 11 But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. Man will still have freedom of choice during the Millennial reign of Christ; if he accepts the Lordship of Christ he will receive the blessings of verses 1-10; if he rejects that government, he will end up like Lot’s wife in a way, he will be turned into salt. If the grace of the Lord is rejected and despised what results will be bitterness and death, as far as it pertains to natural man (the unsaved) & not glorified resurrected saints of God. 12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine. Ezekiel is shown the purpose of these trees; they will continually bring forth new fruit, because they are being watered from the sanctuary the throne of God. The fruit will heal and nourish; such is the character of both a life & a ministry based upon Christ and Him crucified & empowered by the Holy Spirit.
