THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: PEACE Peace is a word that often is mentioned in these Christmas times. Peace. Peaceful. They are nice words, but what do they actually mean? Are they just cute illusions, or is it more to it? Yesterday we visited Philip Islands. What a beautiful place! The wast ocean, the great rumbling waves, the noisy birds flying hither and tither… But the picture that especially impressed me was a koala. A koala very close to the path where a large group of tourists constantly passed by - taking pictures, laughing, chatting, pointing at him… And he was asleep! So peacefully asleep. What a nice picture of peace! How well it illustrated what Jesus said when he walked upon this earth: “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 When it was foretold that Jesus should be born to us, what was He called? Listen again to these famous words: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 The Prince of Peace – that is what we need. It may storm around us, but if we have found the peace he offers we can rest in the midst of it – just like the koala I was yesterday. https://youtube/watch?v=kQWOP2YbQLg
