THOUGHT FOR TODAY............DONT FOOL YOURSELF......People who are late in being at work, school, medical appointments, often think they can make up the time by speeding 10-15 miles an hour faster down the highway. If you are already late by 20 minutes, you will never make up the time with speed to get there on time, so why put your life and everyone else in jeopardy by being reckless. Today, on Michigans I-94 Interstate Highway, there was a pile-up of vehicles. One account says 90 vehicles and another says 150 vehicles. Regardless of the correct count, one person died, and traffic was tied up in both directions for hours. Now to most people, an extra 10-15 miles per hour, doesnt sound that fast, but on a road that has a speed limit of 70 mph, and is covered with ice and snow, 10-15 mph extra is just an outright invitation to disaster. Think of the family of the person who died. Now they must suffer the pain and grief of losing their loved one. And I would bet that none of these vehicles had the proper distant to the car in front of them for stopping in an emergency. What will it take for people to understand the consequences of unsafe driving in inclement weather? I certainly hope that you folks remember that old AAA message, The life you save may, be your own. Think ahead, slow down and live, your family wants and needs you.
