THOUGHTS OF OUR CHILDREN REMEMBERING THEIR MOTHER I am so - TopicsExpress

THOUGHTS OF OUR CHILDREN REMEMBERING THEIR MOTHER I am so grateful for the mom the Lord gave me. Along with being my mom, she was my teacher. The years she spent schooling my sisters, brother, and I were invaluable. From my mom, I learned that life is enjoyable when you appreciate simple things. She had a satisfaction that didn’t depend on money or possessions. I can’t think of anyone I know who was more selfless. She never held me back from following the Lord’s leading but encouraged me to pursue it even when it meant sacrifice on her part. Mom showed patience toward me and was quick to forgive when I was undeserving. The most important thing my mom passed on to me was how to know Christ as my Savior. She looked forward to heaven, having a body that would no longer feel pain and living in a mansion that had been prepared for her. I miss my mom very much but know I will see her again someday. You can have that assurance too. “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that ye may know that ye have eternal life.” ~ 1 John 5:13 – Rebekah Philippians 2:7a says, “But made himself [Christ] of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant…” My Mom was one of the most selfless people I have ever known. Her life spoke much louder than her words. Most of what she did was done with someone else in mind. One of the things I will miss the most is Mom’s letters-she wrote the best letters! Almost every letter had an article or funny picture, “Thought you’d like this.” She wasn’t flashy in her affection for us- no boisterous hugs or passionate exclamations. Her love was simple and sweet…and always there. I miss my Mom so much, but I know I’ll see her in heaven someday. My desire is to “rise up and call her blessed.” (Prov. 31:28) I praise God for a mother who lived Christ’s example of selflessness, and I’m thankful that I got to serve her through her last week on earth. - Rachel When I think of my mom, I remember how tremendously frugal and practical she was. Mom was much happier with something like new kitchen towels or a bag of pretzels than expensive clothes for Christmas. Mom was also our teacher. She poured out her life daily for us. Although she taught us at home, she didn’t allow us to be lazy in our schoolwork. I remember when she warned me that I was going to fail 3rd grade penmanship if I didn’t improve my sloppy handwriting. She also taught us how to cook and clean. Even though we occasionally set off the smoke alarm, she allowed us to be creative in the kitchen on the condition that we always cleaned up the mess. Most importantly, my mom had a real relationship with God through Jesus Christ. She had a great burden that each one of us kids would know God and that we would live our lives for Him. I think what I will miss the most about my mom is her faithful prayers for us. She always had time to talk when we called home; we could tell her anything without fear that she would repeat it to anyone. I thank the Lord that He gave me my mom. Even though our home feels empty without Mom, I’m grateful that she sees her Savior face to face and is free from pain. – Ruth Today, (Thursday, June 6) at 1:15 p.m., Mom took her last breath on earth, and was ushered into an eternal life to be spent with God in heaven, made possible by her faith and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ. While this is the saddest moment of my life, it is also one of the happiest days: Mom is no longer suffering; the pain and sickness are no more. The faith that I have in the promises of Christ assures me that one day, I will see Mom again. Thank you all for your many prayers. - Rob
