THOUGHTS ON THE ANNIVERSARY Its gonna be a long, long journey; its gonna be an uphill climb; Its gonna be a tough fight, theres gonna be some lonely nights; But Im ready to carry on ... -- The Living Proof On the second anniversary of that day, I look at my journal, shot over the four weeks following, in a small area of NDB, and I remember. I remember the shock when I came home and turned the corner from the Lane onto Cedar grove; standing water and debris everywhere; not recognizing the last stretch of the Lane just before the jetty. I remember the look of shock on face after face. And for the first time in ten years, I felt moved to pick up my camera. But the journal is much more than images of destruction. Its a record of the courage, strength, resilience and grace with which our neighbors met the devastation. Its a record of the generosity of all those who came to help us. Its incontrovertible proof of how far this community has come. Look at the photos, then take a walk around these blocks and see the progress. But there is still a long, long journey ahead, as many are still struggling to return to their damaged homes. We miss them and pray for their return. youtu.be/0uYOENN9qPE
