AMERICA IS USING LANGUAGE WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE FINE TRADITIONS OF DIPLOMACY AS A WORLD LEADER AND OF COURSE PERMANENT MEMBER OF THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL, IT COULD NOT DO OTHERWISE. THE TERM “FRIENDLY NATION” DOES NOT CARRY AS MUCH WEIGHT AS SOME OF US ARE GIVING IT. IT DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH SUPPORTING OR SIDING WITH YAHYA JAMMEH. You see we Gambians have to be realistic sometimes, we must never ever miss the fact that Yahya Jammeh’s stay in power is a shared responsibility but the greater part of it lies on our own shoulders. Lets be honest here, America did not go to Egypt or Tunisia and stifle those demonstrators when they rose to remove their respective regimes from power. Tahrir Square witnessed blood shed but never did America go in there and arrest anyone in favor of Mubarek. You remember when Barack Obama asked Mubarek to leave? And we all know Egypt is a friend state and a friendly nation for that matter. In fact terms like friend state have more power and weight. America did not stop those who rose to remove Blaise Compaore as everything was internal. If Yahya Jammeh was heading a friendly state per se his regime would not have been removed from AGOA. It is states that are held accountable when it comes to the eligibility of AGOA, MCA and the like. States are the organs that abuse human rights therefore when they do, their countries are removed from anything that was meant to benefit the nation because they are making it hard for the nation to benefit from it. On the other hand dissociating itself from arms insurrection, the purchasing of arms from its territory with “blatant” traces left behind leaves so much to be desired Even if it is one rifles someone bought from the US for the same purpose the action taken is what is expected of a state like the one in Washington. Remember if America openly supports that, it could mean saying Casamance rebels can also do so and destabilize Senegal IN THE OPEN. Now lets also ask ourselves this question? Which Gambian has ever produced an ounce of cocaine to give credible evidence that Yahya Jammeh facilitates directly or indirectly the exportation and reselling of cocaine with the territory of the USA? I wish those who claim to have evidence on this cocaine would come forward now. How many former officials of the NDEA do we have abroad hiding under rocks while screaming like crickets. Let me tell you this today, GIVE us prove that he has exported one ounce of cocaine into America and see if Washington is his friend as many of us are trying to build in their minds following the charges against Njie and Faal. You see on this article I will speak like a trained professional who is using diplomacy and security as my references and judgments nothing more nothing less. We must also bear in mind that Njie and Faal are US Citizens. They are subject to arrests and verifications when something pops up against them whether internally or externally. This applies to even the ones who arrested them. IN AMERICA NO ONE IS ABOVE LAW AND NO ONE IS BELOW THE LAW. Remember Viktor Bout is jailed here in America for a similar crime but for higher magnitude. Law enforcement agents do not go by what state department wants them to do or say, they are operatives who go by the dictates of clauses like the one stated below. We cannot also be so blinded by emotions to a point where we forget about the separation between political talk, diplomacy and security. How many times have I been saying to those of us abroad and in The Gambia that intelligence, information and finance are the gladiators who shape things and pave the way for action from states? We all know that Yahya Jammeh adds leaves, onion and grass to everything that is presented before him especially what is meant to stain an opponent. He is NOT a democrat he is a dictator. You see for that very reason we have to constantly remind ourselves that this fight against Yahya Jammeh the tyrant is another classroom for most of us. It will teach us the difference between state language, diplomatic language, street language, the language of civil society groups, the language of bandits and the refined language of state protocol. This is where some of us feel disappointed when in actual fact we should feel motivated! Sooner or later most of those who are saying America calling Gambia a friendly nation is confusing would to come to realize that it means nothing close to what such people think!
