THREE men are being hunted by gardai after an armed raid on a cash-in-transit van. The raiders, who were wielding a sawn-off shotgun, held up security staff as they were delivering cash to ATMs at the Leopardstown shopping centre in south county Dublin yesterday. The gunman threatened the staff and one of the guards dropped his cash box, containing €40,000, on to the ground. The money was collected by the gang, who then made their getaway in a silver van. Gardai found the car burnt out shortly afterwards at nearby Glencairn Drive. Locals spotted the three occupants fleeing from the car in the direction of Murphystown Road. Nobody was injured in the incident but the security guards were said to have been traumatised.
