THREE veto threats from Obama in the first two days. He will certainly get lots of exercise with his veto pen. thehill/policy/healthcare/228622-obama-to-block-gop-effort-to-reduce-40-hour-workweek But, the House voted unanimously Tuesday for the Hire More Heroes Act to permit companies to hire veterans without triggering a requirement to provide health coverage for all of their employees. This legislation says that employees with health coverage under TRICARE or the Veterans Administration will not be taken into account when determining whether an employer must offer its employees health coverage or face penalties. The mandate began for large employers (over 100 FTE) this week. Since this will affect very few veterans, but still help a few get jobs, I dont see that provision being too harmful. If it can help more vets get jobs - even if only to stick it in the eye of Obama - I can live with that. The Hire More Heroes Act tees up the House’s expected vote Thursday on another ACA change: redefining the law’s full-time work week as 40 hours. I hope they dont tie these TWO bills together (sour and sweet), to force Obama to veto the Vets bill. It could stand on its own.
