THROW BACK THURSDAY...In memory of a friend Several years ago my friend JOHN SENTER and I took a fall trip to TENNESSEE to visit his brother FRANK SENTER and catch a football game between the TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS and the GEORGIA BULLDOGS...Having been born in Georgia, and having an affinity for bulldogs since it was also the mascot of my high school team in COPPERAS COVE Texas, i took on the wrole of devils advocate and wrooted for Georgia...im just weird that way !!! Frank and John own some land in the SMOKY MOUNTAINS and over the years they had planted over 100 different types of trees on their property...As a result they received a plaque and official designation from the state of Tennesee for their effort...As i was standing outside one day looking down into the valley below their cabin, i was in awe of the plethora of colors and textures of the leaves on the trees and kept that memory in the back of my mind... A few years afterward, I wrote this song and gave them both a copy of it...Frank died 5 years ago this past month ...I was able to visit with Frank a few months before his death when he came to Austin to see some property John had purchased near Austin...John has since planted a variety of native trees on this land as well....I was honored when Frank told me that he had a copy of the song lyrics on the wall of his TENNESSEE MOUNTAIN HOME... wremember to wrock and wroll and wreminisce wresponsibly...wrecks (rex) youtu.be/gpsq6NGECqo?list=UUgBF0MA_GFEm6q6QvI-tTmw
