THROW BACK THURSDAY: Years back, a black belt only tournament was held in Nashville. The pics are from the continuous winners. It was full contact from start to finish ,with the best and hardest hitting fights I have seen to date ,in any kickboxing tournament , or cage match. Woody wound up beating Leon for the Grand, after Darrin Motes bowed out for his Dragon brothers to fight it off. Best fight of the day was Woody and young Jack Roney. They went into overtime. I bowed out as ref for the overtime, so as not to even imply prejudice to the judges. Woody won with a take down and strike that was not a legal score but was counted as such. So technically could you say that Jack Roney was the Gand champ? Maybe.. That would have still left him to fight a couple more pretty fair fighters. We finished one, two and three and with the Grand Champion Trophy also But Honoreable Grand mention for Jack. Sandra Strong Won the womens division over a very strong UT treack star. Side note is ;that a girl name Jill Roney was taking the pictures. I didnt know her, and in the rush ,didnt pay much attention. She, 3 years later ,became the love of my life for a memorable 4 years. It ended ,but I am blessed by the experience.
